Dhariwal

DHARIWAL- a town which is not known to world but still means a lot to many. I was born here and i have spent 17 years of my life living in this town. You can't even find its name on the world map. Most of the people outside Punjab don't even know about its existence. And just to enlighten your knowledge about the city in which i live i'm writing this blog to tell you guys about it's merits and demerits.

Dhariwal is a town in district gurdaspur located on the bank of Upper Bari Doab Canal. Dhariwal was a very important town during the British rule for its woolen mill. this mill has produced all kinds of woolen stuffs of all kinds. It was established in 1880 and worked according to the needs of the people. This was the only mill in Punjab during the British rule and was famous in the whole colonial India. But right now it is closed because of some of unknown reasons. this mill has many costly machines which are kept for nothing. this is totally the wastage of money and technology. The great mill has lost its charm. It no more employs any worker. It no more provides food to anybody. It is just kept closed for nobody's good. Mill's property is being saled. 

Another landmark of dhariwal is its upper doab canal. This canal is the only source of water in this area but today it has become a home to many pests and pollutants. The level of pollutants has become enormously large. This is due to the indifferent attitude of the people of dhariwal. The people use its water and then throw all the trash in it again. The transparency of water has transformed into a blackish color. This condition has affected the natural beauty of dhariwal. The moment you look at the canal you will want to change the direction of your eyes as soon as possible. There was a time when i used to spend my childhood enjoying the beauty of this canal but today i cant even dare to look at it. 

So this was all about its landmarks but now let me speak something about the people here. Well it is known to everybody that right now it is KALYUG. So how can we expect everybody to be nice here? Even the people of dhariwal are no exception. Even the people here are a mixture of good and bad. Yeah some people here are very helpful but still there are many who will be taking advantage of you. So use your brain while trusting anybody.

So this is all about Dhariwal. Much has to be done in improving this town and this can be done only through the combined efforts of the people.
